'I've Been Harassed by Jarrod Westerfeld': Fed up YouTuber Joy Sparkle BS Names Nasty Online Harassers to her 14,000 Fans
28 August 2018
For nearly a year now, YouTube's drama community has been in turmoil. Kati Marie Smith, also known as Joy Sparkle BS, has split the community in two: supporters and haters.
For Kati, it was a nightmarish twist on what had once been a positive experience to her life after she discovered slanderous comments on harassing websites accusing her of fraud, scams and even child abuse.
Fearing she may come to the attention of hunters, Kati started suffering from anxiety.
In her latest video, after nearly a year away from YouTube, Joy Sparkle Bs explains how destructive and scary her harassers were and what made her decide to expose them.
"I didn't understand the internet culture, the threats... people tried to have my friends fired. But these people are losers. They are losers and this is all that they do," Kati says. "Now that I've gotten through this, I'm using you for content. Jarrod Westerfeld, I'm gonna use you to make money now. You need to be exposed for the shitty things you and your 'girlfriend' do."
Westerfeld, along with girlfriend and sex worker Rachel Reed from Lexington, Kentucky, and other fellow trolls, pursued a vicious crusade against Kati Marie Smith, posting her home address on a bullying website, mocking her health issues and harassing her family and friends.
Trolls, or internet harassers, are individuals who post abusive and controversial remarks or comments on social media platforms to bother other people, with the sole malicious intention to hurt their victims with psychological, economic and even physical abuse.
